A man is accused of lighting a truck on fire in a Phoenix park.

On Sunday police were called Desert Storm Park, near 16th Street and Missouri Avenue, after receiving reports that a pickup truck was burning in the open field.

According to witnesses, 48-year-old Travis Khan was allegedly seen going in and out of the 2004 Nisan Frontier before taking a towel or piece of cloth and setting it on fire.

The person told police that Khan was then seen putting the cloth into the car and caused it to catch ablaze, court paperwork said.

Khan, who is also a transient, was then seen fleeing the area but found shortly after not far from the scene, police said.

The suspect is facing an arson of structure or property charge as a result of the incident.
