Scottsdale Police have arrested a man suspected of killing his father in late February.

Police say 62-year-old Craig Elrod was found dead in his home near 28th Street and Thomas Road. Elrod had upper-body trauma and appeared to have been dead for several days.

Elrod's son, 24-year-old Wynton Elrod, was also at the home around that time and fled in his father's orange 2015 Fiat 500.

He had been on the loose until late Saturday night when he was located in Scottsdale after a suspicious person call, Phoenix Police say.

According to police paperwork, when officers confronted him in an alley near Scottsdale and McDowell roads, Wynton told police he was trying to turn himself in because he saw himself on the news. He told the responding officer that the "hurt (his) dad real bad."

Police then took him into custody.

The stolen Fiat has not yet been located.
