A jury has convicted an Arizona man of murder for killing his brother in a drug dispute and fatally shooting his 6-year-old nephew who had witnessed the death.

Jurors rejected 24-year-old Christopher Rey Licon's insanity defense Monday and will now determine whether he'll be sentenced to death or life in prison in his nephew's killing.

They found him guilty of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the December 2010 killing of the boy, Xavier. Jurors convicted Licon of second-degree murder in the death of his half-brother, Angel Jaquez.

Licon faces 16 to 25 years in prison in Jaquez's death.

Licon was accused of shooting his brother at their Phoenix townhome, then kidnapping the child and killing him 20 miles away in an alley.

The sentencing phase begins Tuesday.
