Officials are looking for the suspect responsible for causing damage to a Phoenix senior center.

Phoenix police said officers responded to the Helen Drake Senior Center near 27th Avenue and Northern on Tuesday morning for a report of criminal damage.

When officers arrived on the scene they noticed a water flow valve was stolen, which caused the facility to be without running water.

“That is so sad. That is so low to steal pipes," said Lovella Michealson, a regular at the center.

She and her husband go to the center just about every day for the last three years. They come to socialize and have a nice time.

"They like to play Pinochle , and then you’ve got other people who have the crafts and everything in there,” said Helmer Michaelson.

But others come out of necessity.

“There’s a lot of people that come here, and this is the only meal they get, and now they’re not getting that," Lovella said.

Tuesday afternoon, crews worked on pipes outside the center.

Meanwhile, the City of Phoenix is suggesting seniors needing services head to the Deer Valley Senior Center at 2001 W Walhalla Ln. in Phoenix.

There is no description of the suspect at this time.
