The Phoenix Fire Department announced the passing of former Phoenix Fire Chief Alan Brunacini on Sunday.
Brunacini joined Phoenix fire in 1958. He was a Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Chief prior to becoming Fire Chief. He was Chief from 1978 to 2006.
Fire Chief Kara Kalkbrenner said Brunacini was a trailblazer in the North American Fire Service and the influence of his contributions are still felt across the nation.
