Phoenix police responded to a home in Phoenix early Friday morning where they found someone who had barricaded themselves inside a room and started a fire.
According to Phoenix Fire officials, police responded to the home near 10th Street and Thomas Road for a sounding alarm around 4 a.m. As police entered the home, they heard someone inside and discovered a burglary in progress.
The person inside reportedly barricaded himself in a bedroom and started a fire.
Fire officials say the suspect was taken into custody.
Crews were able to rescue a cat inside the burning home with a Fido bag.
No other injuries were reported but the homeowner will be displaced due to water damage.
