Fire officials say two people were taken to a trauma center after a shooting in Phoenix early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred near 27th Avenue and Campbell around 3 a.m.

Information from police at the scene suggests that three men were in a vehicle when they were shot by two men. Two of the car occupants, described as black men in their late teens or early twenties, were struck. They reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the two shooters, only described as black men wearing hoodies and jeans, fled the scene on foot. One suspect reportedly fled westbound and the other eastbound.

At this point, there's no word on what led to the shooting, but officers say this was not a random act of violence.
