The Department of Public Safety is investigating two separate collisions on Interstate 17 Wednesday morning.
DPS said the first crash happened at 8:30 a.m. near Interstate 17 and Cactus Road. The crash involved three vehicles, including a Phoenix police vehicle.
According to DPS, the police vehicle made a traffic stop along the median lane. A vehicle traveling on Interstate 17 rear-ended the police vehicle which caused the vehicle to crash into the passenger car.
The Phoenix police officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle who crashed into the police vehicle was transported to an area hospital with head injuries.
The second crash involved a vehicle crashing into a concrete barrier wall.
Troopers responded to the crash and the driver of the collision appears to have warrant out for their arrest.
