The Department of Public Safety is investigating after a collision turned deadly on Interstate 17 at McDowell Road.
According to officials I-17 southbound was closed at McDowell Road but the roadway later reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
DPS said people may have been ejected during the multiple vehicle fatal collision. One person was killed in the crash, and another was critically injured.
A DUI enforcement unit was present during the investigation. It's not clear yet if DUI or any other sort of impairment played a role in the collision.
