The Arizona Department of Public Safety says an arrest has been made in a freeway shooting that occurred on Tuesday morning in the Tempe area.

Nashid Mateen, 40, of Chandler, was arrested in connection with the road rage shooting on the Loop 101 near Broadway Road.

No injuries were reported during the shooting, but DPS confirmed five shots in the door panel of the victim's car, that were reportedly fired from a maroon passenger car.

In a press conference on Thursday morning, officials say victims and witnesses were able to give helpful information and descriptions that led to Mateen.

Ballistics testing is said to be underway on a gun that was recovered.

DPS says they do not believe Mateen is involved in any other freeway shootings.

The Loop 101 is no stranger to freeway shootings. Another "road rage" shooting happened in February 2016. DPS is still looking for that suspect.

In addition to the shooting, a man was driving on the Loop 101 near the Loop 202 junction in November 2015 when he heard a loud pop and his window shattered. DPS still does not know what caused the window to fall into the car.

DPS says the quick arrest with help from the public is a good reminder to report anything you see, including license plate numbers, descriptions and locations.
