DPS: 5 vehicles involved in deadly crash on I-10 in west Phoenix

PHOENIX - Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and rescue crews responded to a serious crash involving five vehicles, which left one person dead.

DPS said Wednesday that a Toyota pickup truck rear-ended a Mazda hatchback, killing the driver of the Mazda, 54-year-old Robert Bathel.

Officials do not believe Bathel was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries.
