PHOENIX — Pixie, a dog that was rescued in northeastern Arizona last month with a muzzle strapped on her face, is now going up for adoption.
It’s believed that Pixie had the muzzle on her face for at least two weeks before she was found in Tsaile, Arizona.
The Arizona Animal Welfare League says Pixie was found with serious wounds on her face but continues to recover physically.
A behavioral team at the shelter has since been helping Pixie rebuild her confidence, which AAWL says has been going very well.
AAWL says Pixie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She does well with other dogs and is overcoming her shyness incredibly well, according to AAWL.
Rescuers say the perfect home for Pixie “is a family that's active on the weekends, has older kids, and will let her grow into her personality at her own pace while fostering her confidence.”
If interested, adoption counselors will be at the AAWL main shelter at 25 N 40th Street in Phoenix at 11:30 a.m. Friday to interview people interested.
