Buckeye Road closed after semi-truck crash, driver expected to be okay

Buckeye Road is closed near 27th Avenue after crash early Sunday morning.

Phoenix police say a Chevy Silverado pick up was driving at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear end of a semi-truck.

According to police, the semi-truck had just turned onto Buckeye Road from 27th Avenue when it was struck and the pick up quickly caught fire. Phoenix fire crews were able to get the driver of the truck out and he was transported to the hospital. He is expected to be okay.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Police believe impairment played a factor in the crash and they are investigating the case.
