Arizona Flower Market offers sunflowers in exchange for food donations

Arizona Flower Market is hoping flowers will get people to donate food for Thanksgiving.

The Phoenix flower shop is partnering with local family-owned flower farm Arango Green Growers to raise food donations for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. 

This is the second year Arizona Flower Market is hosting its "Flowers for Food" donation drive. They goal is to give away 10,000 stems of sunflowers in exchange for collecting 10,000 food items by Thanksgiving. 

"These families might not have a Thanksgiving. We want to help give back and hope flowers will help get people to bring in can goods to help those less fortunate," said Brad Denham, Arizona Flower Market  

The event starts Friday November 18th, and runs through Wednesday, November 23rd 2016.

Arizona Flower Market is located at 2050 S. 16th Street in Phoenix.
