The Arizona Attorney General's Office is accusing a Phoenix-based travel arrangement company of using deceptive sales tactics to get customers to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars in vacation packages.
The lawsuit alleges Arch Vacations Inc. violated the Consumer Fraud Act through several misleading practices, including not providing consumers with pertinent information.
The suit asks Maricopa County Superior Court to require Arch Vacations to pay consumer restitution, civil penalties, disgorgement of profits and the costs of the investigation and litigation.
Attorney General Mark Brnovich says many of the questioned practices of Arch Vacations come from company telemarketing scripts which employees are expected to stick to during sales calls.
The lawsuit says Arch Vacations has sold more than 1,600 travel certificates since November 2012 for prices ranging from $999 to $9,000.
