An American Airlines flight from California to Phoenix diverted to Los Angeles on Thursday due to a "mechanical issue," the airline said.
Flight 564 departed San Jose, California at 9:50 a.m. local time en route to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, but was diverted to Los Angeles International Airport at 10:59 a.m.

The Airbus A319 landed safely at LAX. There were 125 passengers and 5 crew members on board. Maintenance workers are checking out the plane.
Video from local news choppers showed multiple emergency vehicles surrounding the plane.
"We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience, and are working to get them to Arizona as soon as possible," the airline said in a statement.
American said it is re-booking passengers on other flights to get them to Phoenix or their final destination.
