Authorities say a Dewey man has died after his moped was struck in a rear-end collision in Prescott Valley.

Prescott Valley police say the incident happened Saturday at about 12:30 p.m. on State Route 69.

According to investigators, a Nissan four-door sedan rear-ended a moped.

The impact threw the moped rider, 74-year-old Thomas Hall, from the bike and onto the road shoulder.

Responding officers say he suffered a serious head injury. Hall died while being airlifted to a hospital.

The 46-year-old woman driving the sedan was not injured.

Police say she stayed at the scene. They did not find any signs of impairment.

They say Hall was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The incident remains under investigation.
