A stretch of highway in northern Arizona has reopened after closing earlier in the day due to a wildfire.

The Arizona Department of Transportation closed a portion of State Route 260 between Christopher Creek and Forest Lakes, roughly 20 miles east of Payson.

During the closure, drivers were re-routed to US 60.

The closure was in place for about two hours due to spots from the Fulton Fire igniting across the highway.

The lighting-caused fire ignited September 12 and has burned 75 acres as of Saturday afternoon.
