The mayor of a polygamous town on the Utah-Arizona line has accepted a subpoena days after the U.S. Department of Justice said it couldn't find him.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Colorado City, Arizona Mayor Joseph Allred accepted the subpoena Wednesday at Town Hall. The subpoena calls for Allred to testify in a civil rights case against the polygamous towns of Colorado City and Hildale, Utah.

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit, claiming the two towns discriminate against people who do not follow the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A motion filed by the department said they hadn't been able to track down Allred for weeks. A judge permitted the department Monday to serve Allred by posting the subpoena on the door of Town Hall.
