The Rural Metro Fire Department is working with the Tonto National Forest to put out a 35-acre brush fire near the Lower Salt River Recreation area on Wednesday.

Officials said the fire has not threatened any structures or State Route 87. Flames were still visible shortly after 4 p.m.
It is not clear what started the fire.
