The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a hit and run driver has been located after a deceased individual was found near Interstate 17 and Camp Verde.
According to officials, around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday a body was found on the shoulder of the road on northbound Interstate 17 at milepost 287.
Later in the afternoon DPS says a yellow semi truck was found near the McGuireville rest area, along with the driver, who was believed to have hit the person.
The name of the victim, and the name of the driver have not been released yet.
DPS says charges have not yet been filed against the driver, but they are pending.
The left lane of NB I-17 in the area has reopened after it was closed down for detectives to investigate.
