Mohave County Sheriff's Office has recovered the body of a Utah man who went missing after heavy rains caused flash flooding along the Arizona-Utah border.

The body of Ryan Daniel Mertlich, 33, was located Thursday afternoon six miles west from where his vehicle was located, just less than 7 miles from the Utah state line.

Mertlich, a resident of Hurricane, Utah, was last seen Monday after leaving a relative's home in Washington City, Utah. He was known to take back roads between St. George and Hurricane, according to MCSO.

His heavily damaged vehicle was found in a flood plain Wednesday evening, but his body was not located until Thursday afternoon.

Search and rescue teams working on this case will continue assisting with searches for victims of flooding near Colorado City.

The Associated Press reported Friday that 20 people were dead and that crews were still looking for at least one other.
