Yavapai County Sheriff's Officials have arrested a man after a deputy-involved shooting on Saturday night.
A 46-year-old woman called officials around 11 p.m. that she was being followed in her vehicle by her estranged husband, 58-year-old William Nelson. When she slowed to turn, he fired a several shots at her vehicle, breaking her window, and kept driving.
The woman was not hit by any of the rounds. She was able to immediately recognize the vehicle belonged to her ex-husband.
Officials located Nelson's vehicle heading toward Camp Verde and initiated a traffic stop. Nelson exited the car armed with a handgun and a deputy fired a shot toward him.
YCSO says he was shot in the upper leg and was given first aid at the scene. He was transported to the hospital and released from the hospital on July 4.
Wilson was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on the following charges: commit murder with premeditation, aggravated assault and aggravated assault on law enforcement.
