Arizona Snowbowl announces season opening date

It doesn't feel quite like fall yet in the Valley, but soon enough the northern parts of the state will show the changing colors of the leaves and snow will pile up on the ground.

For many who live in Phoenix, it’s a nice way to escape the warm temperatures and experience a little bit of winter and escape when it gets too cold.

Ski resort Arizona Snowbowl announced Tuesday that plans on opening for the winter season on November 20.

Over the summer, Snowbowl began installing its first new chairlift in three decades and added five snow-making fans to increase snow production as part of a $2 million renovation project.

Humphrey’s Peak Lift is scheduled to open around Christmas and will be the resort’s first quad-lift, which will seat up to four people at a time, and transport up to 1,000 people an hour.

The resort is also offering new multi-day passes this season. The Power Pack (starting at $129) and includes three lift tickets to Arizona Snowbowl. The Power Pack Plus (starting at $199)includes 5 days of lift tickets. With each pass, they can be used in combination with the company's other ski resorts in Colorado and New Mexico.

They do come with specific limits and restrictions. Guests should check the website for details.

Snowbowl is located 14 miles outside of Flagstaff.
