Taser facility evacuated after small explosion

Posted

Seven people were injured, including one with critical burns, after an explosion Thursday at the Taser International plant in north Scottsdale, authorities said.

The call for help came into the fire department about 4:15 p.m at the facility near Mayo Boulevard and Princess Drive.

Taser officials said the accident involved part of the automation line after it was shut down for the day and in its cleanup phase. Officials say there was a loud noise and a small explosion that prompted employees to evacuate the facility and call for help.

Officials said one employee was seriously injured and is currently hospitalized in stable condition. Another six employees went to the hospital and were released without any serious injuries.

Taser is a developer, manufacturer and distributor of electrical stun guns, body-worn cameras and other items that are mainly used by law enforcement and the military.
