1 badly hurt, officer with minor injuries after 2 Scottsdale crashes

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Scottsdale police officer suffered minor injuries and a second person had to be extricated from a vehicle after two crashes Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the initial crash near Scottsdale Road and Grayhawk to find multiple cars involved.

One person had to be extricated from a vehicle and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Two others suffered only minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Scottsdale police said during that investigation, one of their officers was involved in a collision with a second vehicle. The officer had minor injuries, and the second driver was not hurt.

Video from Air15 over the scene showed a police motorcycle on its side on the ground as crews directed traffic around the area.
