Two months after an 81-year-old man from Alabama was hit and killed in Scottsdale, police have made an arrest.
Sloan Harper was crossing the street near Hayden and Camelback Roads on March 13 when he was hit by a Toyota Prius, said police. He died at the scene.
The driver took off. Police located the vehicle, but not the driver.
On Friday, Scottsdale Sgt. Ben Hoster, spokesman for Scottsdale police, said 23-year-old Blake A. Crawford had been arrested and faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal collision and auto theft.
DNA evidence and other evidence identified Crawford at the driver of the Prius, which was reportedly stolen, said Hoster.
Crawford is expected to be transported to Maricopa County Jail Friday evening.
