The Scottsdale Police Department says police and firefighters are investigating a hazardous materials situation at the Optima Condos near 68th Street and Camelback Road.

Officers have not said what the material is, but said the items are consistent with "some type of lab."

Police have said the hazard is currently contained to one unit and that the items do not pose any threat to other residents in the building.

Management at the Optima Sonoran Village released the following statement:

"Our staff discovered an unusual odor in an apartment and out of an abundance of caution, we contacted the Scottsdale Police Department. The police department implemented their standard protocols and determined there is no risk to the community. The police are in the process of concluding their on-site inspection. Our ultimate concern was the safety for the residents. We are glad to share that the situation has been resolved and there is no safety concern to the community."
