Four people were hospitalized Monday after a man crashed his vehicle into two other cars and then tried to run away at Indian Bend Road and Loop 101, according to the Salt River Police Department.
Officials said an officer was responding to another call shortly after 5 p.m. when he heard the man's Tahoe strike two other vehicles on Indian Bend Road. The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to roll over.
Police said the driver of the Tahoe tried to run away from the scene, but the officer and several citizens were able to catch him. It is unclear why he ran away or whether impairment is a factor in the crash, but officers believe he was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time.
Four people, including the driver of the Tahoe, were taken to a hospital, police said. The extent of their injuries was not released.
