SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The Element by Westin hotel, the latest addition to the Arizona State University SkySong development in Scottsdale, welcomed its first overnight guests June 26.

The 157-room hotel is designed around sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. The location is the second Element brand hotel in Arizona.

“We want guests to be able to continue their lifestyle at home when they are in their rooms,” said Rob Perez, sales director for the hotel. Often, travelers feel like they didn’t have healthy food options to eat on a trip or any chance to exercise, he said, so the hotel incorporates healthy eating and physical activity into the brand.

The hotel’s gym, called “Motion,” includes cardio equipment that can hook up to a visitor’s Netflix or other streaming service while working out. Guests are also welcome to bring one of the gym’s kettlebells or weights into their hotel rooms if they would prefer to exercise there, said Jesica O’Connell, general manager of the property.
