Driver arrested after deadly crash in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Police say a 27-year-old man was arrested after a deadly crash in Scottsdale on Sunday night.

The wreck happened near Scottsdale and Chaparral roads around 9:50 p.m.

A car reportedly made a left turn onto Chaparral Road when it was hit by another car headed southbound on Scottsdale Road.

Two men were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and one later died.

Authorities identified the victim who died in the crash as 33-year-old Christopher Fernandez.

Police say the driver of the southbound vehicle, Chaz Malcolm, 27, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with manslaughter and endangerment.

Impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash.
