A man is dead after his truck veered off the roadway in Scottsdale and struck a tree.
Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, The Department of Public Safety was called to Loop 101 and Cactus Road southbound after a Nissan Frontier pickup truck hit a tree on the side of the freeway.
The man was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after, a DPS spokesperson confirmed.
A second crash in the area, near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Loop 101 southbound, has contributed to a traffic backup in the area.
