Paradise Valley police arrest suspected wheel thieves

Paradise Valley police have arrested three people in connection with a string of wheel thefts in the East Valley. 

Luis Gerardo Lopez, Cesar Santana Monarrez, and a juvenile boy each face charges of theft, police said. 

According to police, from June 2016 through April 2017 several wheel thefts were reported in the East Valley. 

Police said the thefts typically happened during the early morning at hotels and resorts throughout the area. 

The trio would reportedly take rims and tires from GMC SUVs and Dodge vehicles and would leave the victim's cars on blocks. 

Police say through assistance from Scottsdale police; they were able to identify Lopez, Monarrez and the boy as the main suspects in the case. 

On Wednesday, detectives arrested Lopez and Monarrez; both were booked into jail for theft and trafficking of stolen property. 

The boy was previously arrested and is pending charges for theft, police said.
