Firefighters are investigating a deadly crash involving two motorcycles near Fountain Hills.
Officials received reports about the accident on State Route 87 near Saguaro Lake Road around 3 p.m. Saturday.
According to the Rural/Metro Fire Department, one person died at the scene and a second was airlifted to a local hospital.
SR 87 southbound was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened.

The motorcyclists’ names haven’t been released and no additional information was immediately available.
