Maricopa County Sheriff's Office detectives are on the scene near a popular bar in Cave Creek after two pedestrians were hit by a van.
The male victim, an off-duty MCSO deputy, was transported to the hospital in serious condition. His wife suffered life-threatening injuries, according to MCSO spokesperson Chris Hegstrom.
According to Hegstrom, the husband and wife were struck while crossing the street near Harold's Cave Creek Corral.
The driver of the van stayed on scene. Hegstrom told ABC15 that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time.
