A woman is being held on charges she deliberately left a backpack at the Yuma Police Department to elicit fear of a potential bomb.

Police Sgt. Lori Franklin says Renee Tagliafero was booked late Thursday into Yuma County Detention Center on a hoax charge.

The incident began earlier in the day around 7 a.m. when a suspicious backpack was put in front of the department's lobby.

Authorities ordered an evacuation for the entire building and a Yuma County Sheriff's bomb squad was called in.

The backpack was found to contain non-threatening items.

Franklin says further investigation led to Tagliafero being suspected of leaving the backpack.

Police are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact them.
