Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a 31-year-old woman for trying to smuggle $50,000 worth of heroin through the Port of Nogales on Tuesday.
The woman was traveling with her 2-year-old son into the U.S. when officers found nearly 3 pounds of heroin packaged within a baby formula container.
The child was turned over to a family member and officers seized the drugs. The woman was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations department.
