Authorities say a woman was killed and two young children injured in a one-vehicle accident on a rural highway in southern Arizona.
Officials say the accident occurred Wednesday morning on State Route 79 about eight miles north of the junction with State Route 77.
The Department of Public Safety says the woman wasn't wearing a seat belt and was found dead at the scene.
“This young mother died and left two children behind because she chose not to wear a seat-belt,” said Arizona DPS Sgt. Vernon Havens. “This death was completely avoidable.”
The two children -- ages 18 months and two years -- are hospitalized in stable condition.
