Mission San Xavier del Bac in Tucson, known as the Dove of the Desert, has been vandalized by graffiti.
Steffanie Koeneman, spokeswoman for the Diocese of Tucson, verified the damage. Cleanup crews are at the scene removing the graffiti.
The graffiti happened late Wednesday night.
The 18th century mission, at 1950 W. San Xavier Road, receives 200,000 visitors per year.
