Tucson police say a bicyclist was fatally shot by police during a struggle after he pulled out a gun.

Police identify the man killed in the Monday incident as 33-year-old Osee Calix.

According to police, an officer had stopped Calix, who attempted to brake and then fell off his bike. Paramedics were called to the scene and treated the man for minor injuries.

Sgt. Kimberly Bay says as the paramedics were getting ready to leave, the man pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot as officers struggled to take the weapon from him.

Bay says one officer fired back, striking the man.

The incident remains under investigation.
