A Pima Community College campus is getting federal funding for a program to prevent and reduce substance abuse and to target several other health issues.
The college announced Monday that the Desert Vista Campus will use the $900,000 mental health and substance grant to fund the Aztec Proactive Prevention Program.
According to the college, the three-year grant is aimed at preventing and reducing substance abuse and transmission of AIDS and Hepatitis C among Hispanic and minority students and young adults.
The college is collaborating with several other organizations on the program.
