Pima County Sheriff's Department is en route to a remote area of Arivaca to assist border patrol in a mine rescue.

PCSD Deputy Ryan Inglett said U.S. Customs and Border Protection was attempting to apprehend a group of individuals when one fled into an abandoned mine.  The scene is n fairly rough terrain, he said.

Inglett said authorities believe one person is in the mine.

Due to the potential dangers associated with mines and fleeing subjects, they requested the available technologies used by our specialized units, said Inglett.

SWAT, Bomb Squad, and Search and Rescue are also responding to the scene.

The situation is in progress and details will be provided as they become available.
