Officials have arrested a woman after two people died in a crash Friday afternoon on State Route 85 just north of Pima Street.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says 45-year-old Mario Lopez and 21-year-old Melissa Ceballos were killed in the crash. Three other family members riding in a red 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with them are expected to recover.

Deputies said the pickup, driven by 22-year-old Jaynee Gibson, failed to negotiate a curve, causing it to veer into the southbound lane, where it crashed with the Pathfinder. Gibson and a passenger in the truck are expected to recover.

Investigators said it appeared that speed was a factor in the crash.

Gibson is being charged on several different charges including manslaughter, aggravated assault, endangerment, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia possession.
