Officials are investigating at a Maricopa property after receiving reports of two deceased dogs.

Pinal County spokesman Joe Pyritz said Animal Care and Control officers are at the scene near Hidden Valley and Bowlin roads.

According to Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Paula Pollock, deputies responded to the same property regarding reports of the dead animals. Animal control has since taken over the investigation.

Authorities said two dogs were found deceased on the property and several other dogs were living there. According to a release from Pinal County Animal Care and Control, the dead animals were too decayed for a cause of death to be determined.

An ABC15 viewer who works with Rescue Angels AZ reported seeing "horrible conditions" at the scene.

Animal care officials did not have a search warrant, so they could not enter the property. The other dogs on the property did not appear to have obvious signs of distress.

Animal control is working with the county attorney and sheriff's offices to determine what to do next.
