No charges will be filed in the case of a teenager shot in the chestat a Pinal County gun range.

Prosecutors’ evidence showed the incident was an accident, not even rising to the level of criminal negligence, according to Tiffany Davila, public information officer for the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.

The 14-year-old girl was at Casa Grande’s public gun range off Isom Road with her family in late November when a family friend accidentally fired his gun, police said.

The family friend was trying to holster his 9mm handgun at a range table when it accidentally fired, police said.  The girl was hit in the upper chest, police said.  At the time, police said her prognosis was good.

An update on her condition was not immediately available Monday.
