Photos: Southern California ravaged by wildfires

Hundreds of thousands of acres burned starting Dec. 4, 2017 in Ventura County, California. Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate as multiple wildfires were fueled by Santa Ana winds. One firefighter was killed fighting the Thomas Fire. Twelve days into the wildfires, only about 40 percent of the largest — the Thomas Fire — had been contained.
