Experienced Scripps political correspondent Mike Sacks will host a weekly 30-minute show called, “The Race,” giving viewers an in-depth look at the 2016 race for the White House.

“The Race” begins Monday on most Scripps stations throughout the nation.

The show will feature interviews with leading political experts and those seeking office. “The Race” will air in a number of battleground markets, including Tampa, Cincinnati and Cleveland.

“The 2016 presidential election is unlike any we’ve seen in our lifetime,” said Sean McLaughlin, vice president of news for Scripps. “Voters have an insatiable appetite for information on the candidates and we see this final stretch as a prime opportunity to deliver accurate and unbiased political coverage that delves beyond talking points and rhetoric.

“We are well-positioned with Mike Sacks in D.C. and stations in key swing states to reach audiences that will have a critical impact on who is elected as the next president.”

Sacks joined the Scripps team in April after cover Capitol Hill with the National Law Journal/Legal Times. Before that, Sacks was with the Huffington Post.
