Police in Palo Alto, Calif. arrested a 17-year-old accused of burglarizing a home on Wednesday, as the teen was said to have asked the victims for their Wi-Fi password during the crime.

According to a police press release, a burglar broke into the residence in the early morning hours of Sunday. Police say the suspect awakened the couple in their bed, asking them for the Wi-Fi password.

That is when the male victim shoved the suspect out of the home and called the police.

The suspect entered the home through an open window after cutting open a screen.

The victims reported that two kitchen knives were missing from a kitchen drawer, according to police.

The teen was reportedly linked to other crimes in the area, including a nearby bicycle theft that happened around the same time.

Police said the suspect was charged with residential burglary (a felony), prowling (a misdemeanor), and providing false information to an officer (a misdemeanor).
