Report: Australian teen running from police drowns in river

PERTH, AUSTRALIA - A teenager who was part of a group running from police has drowned after trying to use a river to get away.

Australia-based broadcaster ABC reports the teens were seen climbing fences Sunday in Marylands, a suburb of Perth.

Officers arrived and ran after the teens, some of whom entered the Swan River. A few were arrested, but ABC reported it was not immediately known whether there were others who did not make it out.

The area is still being searched and authorities are working to identify the body of the teen recovered.
