The FDA issued a recall notice for Green Cuisine “Pesto Pasta Salad with Arugula” because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, the administration announced Saturday.

The recall is due to Green Cuisine's provider of frozen green peas containing possible contamination.

According to the FDA, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Those with the potentially contaminated food are encouraged to dispose of return the product.

The recalled products were sold in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona Whole Foods Market locations June 15 and June 16. The recalled product was sold in 7.4 oz clear plastic containers with the name “Whole Foods Pesto Pasta Salad w/Arugula,” UPC code 857898004333 and “best by” date of 6/20/16.
